the twilight zone

Thank you all so much for the kind words and congratulations. We are very excited and hopeful that this will go well. Our attorney is prepping the initial set of paperwork for us to sign, and hopefully we'll hear details early next week about our first meeting and attending the ultrasound.

I spent most of yesterday in shock, but the reality of this is finally settling in a bit. We don't have a lot of time - six weeks at most - and we have so much to do: get the money situation settled with the attorney, reserve a spot at the daycare, find a pediatrician, get all of the baby things we need, finish the nursery, meet with HR about taking maternity leave, etc.

Some of you have asked how you can help. Our primary need is assistance with legal fees. You can help by purchasing an item off of our Etsy page or contributing money to our adoption fund (under the "Help Us Adopt" tab at the top of the page). If any money is left over, we will use this money to put into an education IRA for the baby. We're also registered for some items at Amazon.com, Target, and Babies R Us. And we need LOTS of positive thoughts!

I still can't believe this. It's hard to put into words what I'm feeling because it's so new and sudden. I've been less emotional than I expected (I expected to cry non-stop, but I've only cried once), but I'm sure the emotions will kick in at some point. All I know is that, as of now, we're bringing home our daughter in less than two months.

AH.

I love that last line. Less than two months.

Let that sink in a bit, lol.

And add a jogging stroller to your registries, lol. New mommy status does not excuse you from running the Princess Half :)

I'm sure these next few weeks will be so bizarre, and go by quickly and slowly, all at the same time. Just so happy for you!!!

Thanks for the comment on my blog. Of COURSE you got the promotion right before getting matched. And now you're going to back to the company and ask for maternity leave...

But it's fine. You'll get through it, and so will the company. Because the big thing that they're worried about is you coming back and continuing to work. Obviously they like you - otherwise you wouldn't have received the promotion! So they'll work with you as you try to figure out the balance between the new job and the new baby (Woohoo! sorry - just had to throw that in there - new BABY!!!). But yes, I certainly understand the struggle. I think most of us that work understand this. Hang in there!!!

It's so exciting! =) I checked out your registries... they've got such cute stuff on them! Something I realized.. I registered for the "SnugRide" stroller car seat stroller frame too. Then, I realized that you can get the Graco LiteRide Stroller at Target for cheaper AND not only does it fit the car seat, but you can use it later because it's a full car seat on its own. http://www.target.com/p/graco-literider-stroller-barlow-brown-green/-/A-13773928

Anyway, congrats again! And since we had about 1 week, I'd say that 6 weeks is PLENTY of time to prepare for a baby. It's the perfect amount of time to prepare without getting worried about her changing her mind. =) Enjoy the time of preparing! Don't let fear get in the way of the fun!
