meeting day

It's just about here. Tomorrow we meet T for the first time - exactly 5 weeks before her due date. Unfortunately, we won't be going with her to the sonogram as originally planned. We'll be taking her to lunch instead. She had a labor scare on Tuesday and went to the hospital. They did a number of tests there (as well as took over 90 photos), so she won't need to go in again tomorrow for more tests.

The good news is that the baby is very healthy. She already weighs over 6 pounds and she looks perfect! We are hoping this is a positive sign and that she'll need little to no time in the NICU after birth.

Any words of encouragement or advice about tomorrow are greatly appreciated. I'll update when I can.

I'm sorry you can't go to the sonogram, but good luck meeting the birth mother! With as well as things have gone on the phone, I'm sure it will be fine in person too. <3

Good luck on this most auspicious occasion!

I would say to have some topical conversation starters in the back of your mind, to keep it light, but most of all to be yourselves. I can imagine how nervous you are but know that she is just as, if not more, nervous.

Be prepared to answer her questions...she may have many or none at all.

Be yourself...show excitement...be supportive to her.
You are going to "meet" your daughter tomorrow!! I remember the first time I touched our BM's belly....our daughter kicked so hard my hand flew off the belly. It was amazing.

Good Luck!!

Good luck!!! I know that it is probably too late to give you advice, but I would just say that you need to be yourselves. Also, write everything down after you meet her. We don't really ever hear from my son's birth mother anymore, so I treasure the little bit of information that we do have about her.
