major goal #1

Joey and I are officially on our way to accomplishing one of the major goals we've set for this year:

Buying a house.

(Technically we are on our way to achieving the other one--having a baby--if you count throwing hundreds of dollars a month into our RE's pocket. But whatever.)

This morning we were pre-approved for a loan and we may start looking for houses as early at this weekend. We are trying to get in a place by May or June to take advantage of the extended tax credit, which will hopefully be used for our baby's nursery/toy/clothing/college fund rather than more fertility treatments. Trying to stay positive here!

I'm really excited about buying a house. I've wanted a place to call our own for so long, and we are finally going to get that. We're looking for a townhouse: we want to start off small and be responsible for little maintenance. Most importantly, we want something that we can bring our future Baby S home to--whenever he or she graces us with his or her presence.

At this moment, I'm running out the door for my doctor's appointment, but there is something else I want to mention. I'll elaborate on this in another post, but I am thinking of disabling anonymous comments. I've received several comments in the last few weeks that were not so nice. I'm not going to call these people out. For now, I'll leave you with this: Please, try and remember the golden rule. Treat others how you want to be treated. Don't leave me a comment that you would be offended if I left it on your blog. Thanks. More to come . . .

Awww, you dont want to see Joey out there mowing the lawn for a few hours, in the sweltering heat??? lol! Yay for getting pre-approved and getting started possibly this weekend!

I can't wait for the house warming party! :)

How could anyone leave you a mean comment? You're one of the nicest people I know. They suck.

Hope your app't went well. Love you.

Very exciting, good luck with the house search! We are in a townhouse now and love the low maintenance. It's so nice not to mow the grass every weekend or shovel the snow (though you won't have that problem!).

I'm sorry about the mean comments...people are ridiculous sometimes. And I agree w/ Hayley, you're one of the nicest bloggers I know.

YAY for pre-approval!!! I remember how exciting that was. After we got that, we thought we'd spend about 3 months looking for the right house, too. Then, BAM! "THE" house was one of the first ones we found....you never know how soon you might come across it!
GOOD LUCK!!

And who the hell is leaving you mean comments? Lemme at 'em...!!

I cant wait til Im in a position to buy a house. Apartment living, aside from not having to do maintenance, sucks.

Congratulations, that really is exciting. We got our first house this year and while the workload goes up a ton, it's all worth it. Because it's yours and it feels good to work on it.

YAY for getting pre-approved for a home! It is definitely our second most proud accomplishment! Yard maintenance is NO FUN (at least for J) - a townhouse sounds perfect for y'all!

I am sorry that anonymous people are leaving hurtful comments. I guess people feel better to say mean things behind "anonymous" - just cowards.

Know that there are many readers out there who only want the best for you and your family!

Some people on the internet are assholes. I'm sorry you've gotten mean comments.

YAY that is great! So exciting, you will love it! Not sure if you're looking in my neck of the woods or yours but if you need any help over here let me know. =)

Awesome goal! Enjoy house hunting!! I can't wait to hear what you find.

I'm sorry to hear that people are leaving you mean comments. How sad is it that people have to leave mean messages like that?

LOL about Joey mowing the lawn....he did plenty of that when he was a kid! Hayley and Jimmy used to go out to watch him.....seriously.....must not've been much going on in Ethans Glenn for the very young (at the time) Zipp kids...

Hahaha, Mrs. Zipperer! I think he still has bad memories of those days. Hence not wanting to cut anymore grass for a while. :)
